Long distance skateboarding is an amazing sport. I’ve had a blast with it for the past 10 years, and with the advent of titanium bones, I’m hoping I’ll be able to skate ’til I’m 120.
Meet Paul Kent. He don’t need no stinkin’ titanium. And he’ll probably be skating until he’s 140. He’s an elite competitor as well as the owner of an amazing long distance skateboarding world record. He’s one half animal, one half machine, and one half human. Yeah that’s right. Paul Kent is one and a half.
As I write this, Paul is finishing up a 3 day, 180 mile skateboard race called the Chief Ladiga Silver Comet Sk8 Challenge. He is tearing it up. In yesterday’s stage 2, he rode over 57 miles at a pace of 4:06/mile. There are only a handful of people on earth that can ride for 4 minutes at that pace. Paul did it for almost 4 hours. This is seriously amazing stuff. Is there already a superhero whose superpower is ultra-stamina? If not, I vote for skater Paul.
He’s setting the bar for the future! I truly believe he acquired super powers from his distance riding across South America. check silverfishlongboarding.com for more. You gotta love a champ! Paul Kent! You rock! Glad I got to meet you in FL. Will catch up with you again at an Andrenalina sanctioned contest. . Hats off to you bro!!!!
Hey Chris! Yeah- in a sport that is so new, it’s amazing that such talent is showing up this early. i agree you gotta love a champ- and you definitely have your share of successes on a skateboard as well. anyway, hope stuff is awesome!
The funny thing about the title of this story and paul will testify to this, is that for a brief moment after he was born I toyed with the idea of calling him that, but then I thought that wouldn’t be right, he says that he sometimes wishes that he did, lol
Paul’s mum Pam
Hi Paul’s mum,
Thanks for the note! Why does it not surprise me that Paul would have liked that name? 🙂
You’re son is an amazing skater, but even better he’s a good human being. I’m sure you are very proud of him. Me too.
Just phenomenal. He is taking this sport to new heights.
it really is amazing what he is doing. and what a great ambassador for an emerging sport.
